The double "G" rolls into town over the weekend. For 72 hours, the world's most powerful people will surge into Southern Ontario, complete with enormous entourages, and thousands of journalists and protesters in tow. First up will be the G8 meeting, well more likely the G18, since its 8 richest nations and 10 guest from developing nations. According to the Canadian Press, the G8 will be held on Friday and Saturday near Huntsville, Ont. Topic on the table for the summit are; global peace, security concerns, and maternal health. Some minor cost items billed to the tax payer, include $1.9m "Fake Lake", 600 "portable toilets" for $416,387 and not to mention $1,2m for "Food Safety" for Health Canada. (Just don't order any Maple Leaf). The G20 will start Saturday and rap up on Sunday, with the main point being the looning deficit. As Canada plays host to the double "G" so do we pick up the enormous price tag that goes hand in hand with the summit, Ottawa has dolled out $930 million for security alone. Is it now safe to say that poverty has left us?
